Alexandra Militaru (b. 1984) has studied piano at the Carmen Sylva Highschool in Ploiești. In 2003, she became a student in the piano department of the National University of Music Bucharest, working with Suzana Szörenyi, Raluca Voicu-Arnăuțoiu, Vlad Dimulescu and Șerban Dimitrie Soreanu. After graduating in 2007, with a Bachelor in Piano Performance, she was accepted at the Rennes 2 University (Université Rennes 2 – France), in the musicology department (in 2009), where she is currently pursuing her Doctoral Studies under the supervision of composer, conductor and musicologist Patrick Otto. She has collaborated in several occasions with the Ploiesti Philharmonic orchestra as a soloist. In November 2007 she won, as an accompanist, the “Lisette Georgescu” prize in the Mihail Jora National Contest (Bucharest). Alexandra Militaru has continued her activity as an accompanist in France, in chamber and contemporary music ensembles, especially with the Sonopsie Association. In June 2013, her article on French composer Thierry Machuel has been published in the national French review L’éducation musicale, the 2014 Baccalaureate Edition (Beauchesne Publishing House). In October 2013, Alexandra Militaru gave a lecture at Maison Internationale de Rennes, presenting the Romanian composer George Enescu.
