Anna – Maria Rentzeperi – Tsonou was born in Thessaloniki. She studied at the Department of Musical Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (B.A. with honours, 1993), and also at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki: harmony (Harmony degree, 1989) and classical singing (Diploma Summa cum Laude, 1991). ERASMUS Scholarship at the Musicology Department of Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich (1991-1992). Doctor of Historical Musicology (Ph.D., 2002) at the Department of Musical Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
She participated in various singing seminars, gave performances several times as a soloist and as a conductor of children’s choirs and made recordings for the Greek Radio and Television. She authored 25 scientific papers in the field of historical musicology, and wrote papers for the concert programs of the Megaron Organization of Music in Thessaloniki. Today she is lecturer at the Department of Musical Science and Art of the Macedonia University of Thessaloniki, Greece. She is a founding member of the Hellenic Union for Musical Education (E.E.M.E.)
