About the Authors

Antigona Rădulescu, musicologist and PhD in music since 2002, is professor at the National University of Music Bucharest, teaching courses on polyphony, semiotics and musical narratology. Since 1991, she is a member of the Romanian Union of Composers and Musicologists (secretary of the Musicology section between 2010-2014). Her musicological activity includes published books: Perspective semiotice în muzică [Semiotic Perspectives in Music] (2003), Johann Sebastian Bach (2010), Introducere în semiotica muzicală [Introduction to Musical Semiotics] (2013) – book for which she received the Romanian Academy Award in 2015, Odiseea muzicală / Musical Odyssey 1864-2014 (2014); main collaborator of the volume by Valentina Sandu-Dediu Muzica românească între 1944-2000 (2002), translated into German (Rumänische Musik nach 1944, 2006); coordinator and co-author of the collective volume Estetica. Un alt fel de manual [Aesthetics. Another kind of textbook] (2007); author of studies on various themes, from semiotics to modern and contemporary creation, published in academic journals; coordinator of the National University of Music Bucharest journal Acord.


Oleg Garaz (born in Soroca, Republic of Moldova) – musicologist. Education and training: Stefan Neaga Music College (Chisinau), theoretical department (1979-1983), Gavriil Musicescu Conservatoire (Chisinau), Theoretical Faculty, Department of Musicology (1987-1990), Gheorghe Dima Music Academy (Cluj-Napoca), Theoretical Faculty, Department of Musicology (1990-1995 /1997), Advanced Studies, Department of Musicology (1997-1998). Scientific doctoral studies completed at the National University of Music Bucharest, with a thesis entitled The European Musical Canon in Postmodernity, defended in 2013. Published books: Contraideologii muzicale [Musical Counter-Ideologies] (2003), Poetica muzicală în convorbiri [Musical Poetics in Conversations] (2003), Muziconautice [Musicalnauticals] (2007), Territoria (2007), Muzica şi sensul sincretic al nostalgiei [Music and the Syncretic Sense of Nostalgia] (2011), Exerciţii de muzicologie [Musicological Exercises] (2014). Professional affiliations: Member of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Romania (from 1998). At present: teacher at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca.


Monica Gurău-Mihalache is a radio producer of musical shows at the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company (Radio Romania) since 1996. She studied at the National Music University of Bucharest, department of musicology, obtaining a master degree in 2002.  She wrote several articles and a book, Muzica între prezent și viitor (Music between present and future), Bucharest: Editura Muzicală, 2013. She is also a member of the musicology department of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Romania.
